The stand reads its own post the way it keeps its cards: everything gets read, and nothing goes on the rail before it has been checked. A note left at the stand is the surest way to change what a card says, because it lands where the cards are actually written.

What earns a hook on the rail

Three kinds of note earn their place. The first is a correction with its source attached: if a card states something the record contradicts, send the manual page, the scheme document, the archived price board or the column that shows it, and we fix the card and redate it. The second is a memory of the shop floor itself: the first bike you hired by the week, the job card that carried your first repair, the counter where you signed your first scheme form. Recollections like those are what a card is made of, and a good one can grow into a filed card of its own. The third is a break in the notebook: a link that went dead, a study that failed to load, a hook that stopped holding. Sign the note the way you would initial a job card: a name helps us answer, but the notebook only ever prints the note.
